deviantART ANSI Logo

I created an ASCII for a group called Deviance once and that reminded me a bit of "Deviant Art", so I took that ASCII and made it to a DeviantART ASCII and while I was at it, I made it to an ANSI with colors as well. Both versions ASCII and ANSI are available in the DA print shop. The Mouse-pad is my favorite. I ordered a bunch of those for myself :)

Newest

Here are the previews of my latest stuff. As you can see, I am not only doing text art stuff like ASCII and ANSI, but play around with VGA/Pixel art as well. I also like to mess around with stuff, what then becomes a collage of some sort.

Favourites

Flash Player 8 is required to view SitBack. Get the latest version of Flash Player.
Here are a some examples of deviantions by other DA members, which I particularly liked a lot. A lot of them are in the category "Space Art", because I dig that kind of stuff, but also some photographs, old skool pixel art and ANSI/ASCII text art by some fellow oldskoolers. Enjoy!

If you want to make me a gift and don't know what to get, check out these deviations by some fellow DA members and pick one that you also like. I would appreciate it and I am sure the artist who created that deviation will appreciate it as well. :)

Superior Art Creations Art Packs Brows-able Online

Journal Entry: Wed Nov 11, 2009, 3:24 AM
Entry: 71

I finally did it! It just took me 3+ years or so. All SAC art pack releases can now be enjoyed by anybody who is interested in it directly from the web browser, no special plug-ins other than Flash are required. I had to convert everything into web compatible formats to make this possible.

For all of you who hate reading, check out the video that I created to show off the new stuff. You can find the video embed in this blog post of mine about the release.

The SAC homepage was up for a long time already and had a little bit of art content but SAC members produced several thousand pieces of ANSI, ASCII, VGA, Tracker Music and Intro artwork. The intros can be enjoyed as video capture. All tracker tunes were converted to MP3s and can be listened to via a single click on a "play" button next to each tune. The ANSIs were converted to images and ASCIIs are available in two different formats, 1) the image snapshot version (like the ANSIs) and also the Unicode text version of it as well.

- Browse by Artist
- Browse by Pack File

or browse the SAC Packs Overview Page and from there any of the pack release files as you go.

I created earlier already pages for the crack intros that SAC created for various scene groups, bulletin board systems or scene events. That means that those things are kind of duplications, but then. The special intro listings have features that I could not integrate into the SAC pack browser yet, goodies like download links to used resources, like the original MOD tune or Logo graphics. I also show not just the coders credits but full credits instead, e.g. the work of the graphicians and musicians. In those special intros pages are you also able to find productions that did not make it into a SAC art pack for any reason.

Cheers!

I am an ASCII and ANSI text artist and co-founder of the "scene" art group Superior Art Creations (SAC). I was active in the computer art scene, demoscene and the warez scene between 1992 and 1998. Roy was my "handle", but I am better known in "the scene" as Roy/SAC, because of my ASCII and ANSI text art work.

I was between 1995 and 1997 the sysop of my own bulletin board system called "Closed Society". The BBS had at the end 5 nodes (4x ISDN + 1x 28.8kbit modem) and was running on OS/2 and PCBoard. I have a site dedicated to ANSI and ASCII art at RoySAC.com [2], which also double-functions as SAC homepage since 2007.

I was born in East Berlin/Germany, the ex-communist part of Germany called East Germany or GDR (German Democratic Republic). I was 15 years old and in the 9th grade when the "Berlin Wall fell" on 1989-11-09. I moved to the United States on 2000-05-15 and live now in Fresno/California.

Hey Roy,

Know all the history, but just asking, I'm making my entire site in ASCII, well.. basicly cp437 converted to UTF-8 so it displays correctly in every browser ;-) You can view it here: [link]

And I was just wondering, got any tips or tricks? It will all be static pages, not some site system, but for the design and others things I mean ;-) Can't seem to get a good 0x3a logo going, the X isn't the easiest letter to create.

You've done great work ;)

Cheers,
